Review on the vFFR software

Dr. Daemen and Dr. Masdjedi reevaluated the role of the pressure wire in assessment of coronary stenosis severity and reviewed the nuances of coronary angiography-based FFR and results of initial validation studies. The vFFR software of three different vendors (including Pie Medical Imaging) and their validation studies are discussed. The excellent correlation between angiographically derived Caas vFFR and invasively measured FFR (r=0.89) is very promising. Once the technology becomes more widely available, it might fundamentally change the way both diagnostic coronary angiography and PCI will be performed.
